Established to "foster and support professional genealogists in their ongoing development efforts." Five winners will be selected and awarded a scholarship for one each to attend one of the major US-based genealogical institutes. The scholarship covers tuition and specific travel expenses.
Because the deadline always falls just before we announce the next year's curriculum to which the award applies, we offer the opportunity to have open dialogue with the director to help applicants rank their institute preferences. ASG Scholar Award, American Society of Genealogists

The goal of this annual award is to "recognize talent and build genealogical expertise by providing promising genealogists the opportunity to receive advanced academic training in genealogy." Applicants submit a "published work or a manuscript of work in progress, to be judged by a panel of three (ASG) Fellows." The scholarship provides "$2,000, toward tuition and expenses at one of six major academic genealogical programs." To find out more, visit their website.
BCG Paul Edward Sluby Sr. Scholarship for African American Students

This new scholarship, provided by the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG), will be awarded to up to three African Americans "to participate in national genealogical institutes. The award will "cover up to $1,700 of the tuition, travel, and lodging expense." Application requires an essay and a sample of genealogical research. Awards will be made in May 2021 and will be usable for 2021 institutes.
