ABOUT ME

Introduction

Debra A. Hoffman, PLCGS, is a professional genealogist specializing in Maryland and German research and the owner of Hoffman Genealogical Services. She is a genealogical author, lecturer, and researcher.

Debra has presented at the Genealogical Institute on Federal Records (Gen-Fed), the Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research (IGHR), the International German Genealogy Conference, and has coordinated courses at both SLIG and IGHR. She co-authored the NGS Research in the States: Maryland guide and has published articles in the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin, APG Quarterly, Der Kurier, Bluegrass Roots, and the Carrolltonian.

She holds a Family History Certificate from Brigham Young University and a PLCGS in German Records from the National Institute of Genealogical Studies. Debra is a past co-director of Gen-Fed, a graduate and former mentor of ProGen, and actively serves in several genealogical societies, including as an At-Large Board Member of the Maryland Genealogical Society and Recording Secretary of the Mid-Atlantic Germanic Society.
