Torhild Shirley is a presenter, translator, and Accredited Genealogist® professional specializing in Scandinavian research. A native of Norway, she is comfortable with the Scandinavian languages and conducts research across all Scandinavian countries. Whether tracing ancestral lines, locating ancestral farms, or identifying living relatives, Torhild combines historical knowledge, language skills, and advanced research methods to uncover the stories behind Scandinavian families. Torhild holds an Associate of Arts in Family History from Brigham Young University Idaho (BYU-I) and an Associate of Arts in Technical Translation from the University of Agder (formerly Agder College, Norway). She has completed advanced genealogical education through the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and is a graduate of the Research Like a Pro program.

Currently, Torhild serves as a commissioner for the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGenSM), where she helps maintain and advance professional genealogical standards. She has served as an ICAPGen study group coordinator, leader, and mentor, helping aspiring genealogists develop the skills and experience needed to achieve accreditation.
