General Policies

To register for any course, you (the student) will be required to acknowledge that you agree to all SLIG policies and will abide by them. Please read all SLIG policies carefully.

Registration Account

To register for any SLIG course or event (including addition to a waiting list), you must have a registration account. You may set up this account at any time prior to registering. Only one account is required to register for any SLIG course or event. If your account is not working for any reason, please reach out to info@ugagenealogy.org for assistance rather than creating another account. 

Notes on the UGA/SLIG 2025 website update:
UGA Member accounts were transferred to the new website. The first time you log in to the site, you will need to click forgot password and create a new password. Please do not create a new account.

Non-UGA members’ accounts did not transfer to the updated website in Spring 2025. If you registered for SLIG without joining UGA, you will create an account as a new user. You are not required to join UGA to create a user account or register for a SLIG course.

In your account, you can review and update your contact information. We ask that you review and update your account information each year to ensure it is current.

UGA Membership Discounts (rev. May 2025)

If your UGA membership is active at the time of registration, you are entitled to a discount of 10% on each course.

If you do not have a membership, you can purchase a UGA membership at https://ugagenealogy.org/membership-levels.

Please contact the SLIG registrar at registrar@slig.ugagenealogy.org in writing for all registration or discount-related matters.

Disability Services

Reasonable accommodations will be provided for persons with disabilities. Please contact the SLIG Registrar in writing at registrar@slig.ugagenealogy.org to provide detailed information about your requirements. Notification of specific needs must be received no later than three weeks prior to any program. A SLIG Committee member may contact you for further details.

Communication

Confirmations of registration and payment will be sent from the registration system using the email extension of @slig.ugagenealogy.org. Communications from the registrar will be sent from the email address of registrar@slig.ugagenealogy.org. Please note that emails could be sent from other SLIG Committee members using the email extension of @slig.ugagenealogy.org. Please ensure that your email client includes the registrar’s email address and the extension @slig.ugagenealogy.org on your safe senders list. If you feel you are not receiving information in a timely manner, please check your junk/spam email folder and/or search for the email address and/or the extension to mark them as safe.

Payment Policy

Payment must be made in full at the time of registration. You are only considered registered after payment is received. If payment is not made in a timely manner, your seat will be added back to the pool of available seats for that course.
 
Payment may be made by PayPal or credit card (major credit cards are accepted). 
 

Cancellation Policy

SLIG cancellation policies are intended to protect the integrity of the programs and meet all financial commitments. We acknowledge that last-minute changes may occur due to illness or accident. Cancellation requests must be made in writing to the SLIG registrar at registrar@slig.ugagenealogy.org. A cancellation request must be received by 11:59 pm, Mountain Time, on the cancellation date to receive a refund less a $75 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after that date; substitutions are not allowed. Students who cancel after the deadline will receive access to the course Dropbox and any course recordings but will not be eligible for a course certificate. The cancellation dates are:

  • SLIG Fall Virtual: August 15th prior to the event.
  • SLIG: November 30th prior to the event.
  • SLIG Spring Virtual: December 15th prior to the event.
