Dining at SLIG and Academy

The Hilton Salt Lake City Center is centrally located to some of the best dining Salt Lake City has to offer. There are dozens of places to eat within about a one-block walk; more if you wish to venture out a bit.


Tucked just inside the entrance to the Trofi Restaurant. They offer beverages, pre-packaged sandwiches, and pastries from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. Limited seating. During SLIG week, participants may also sit in Trofi during lunch when purchasing from Starbucks. During Academy week, participants may sit in one of three areas set aside on the first and second floor for networking: Academy Central (Topaz), hallway east of the Seminar Theatre, and the Salon foyer. 

Grab-and-go lunch items will be available from Starbucks again this year. A variety of soups and sandwiches will be available for anywhere from $6-$7.50. Additional items such as chips, beverages, snacks, or candy bars will also be available for purchase if desired. Gluten-free items will be available at Starbucks as well. 

Academy special: Salad or Sandwich, Bag of Chips, and a Drink (20oz Coca Cola Beverage or 16oz Icelandic Bottle of water), $12.00 (about 15% off individual prices). Tax and tip not included.

Trofi Restaurant

Enjoy a hot breakfast buffet with omelets made to order for $18 (tax and tip included), or order items a la carte from the menu at the price listed.

Trofi is not open to the public for lunch.

SLIG week special: The Hilton will be serving a lunch buffet for SLIG participants and their guests for $20 (tax and tip inclusive) during SLIG week only from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The five-day lunch package may be purchased with special event registration, or participants and their guests may purchase separately on-site with a SLIG name badge.

Fine Dining in the Hilton

Hilton is home to Spencer’s for Steaks and Chops. One of Salt Lake's oldest steakhouses, this "Best of State" and "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence" restaurant, offers a fine dining experience. Seating is available for groups, in booths, at high tables, and in the bar area for a variety of experiences. Located north of the lobby near the Salon rooms, they will be offering a daily lunch special during SLIG.

Spencer’s Bar

The gathering place for a casual drink while staying at the Hilton. Located in the front of Spencer’s restaurant.

Room Service

Hilton offers room service from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Special Dietary Needs

The Hilton offers gluten-free options at all three dining facilities. Other dietary needs accommodated upon request.

Hilton Honors Benefits (as of October 2019)

Guests who are either Gold or Diamond Status may enjoy the hot breakfast from Trofi each day by simply stating their name with the hostess. Hot hors d’oeuvres are also served daily in the Gold & Diamond Lounge.


The Hilton is within a short walking distance of a variety of restaurants, including Blue Iguana, Inferno Cantina, Red Rock Brewing Company, PF Chang’s, Benihana, Market Street Grill, J Wong's Asian Bistro, Siegfried's Delicatessen, and Squatter’s Pub, just to mention a few. You will find everything from sushi to cheesesteaks within a two-block walk. Please note that the Olive Garden, formerly next door to the Hilton, has closed. We apologize for this inconvenience!

A Bit Beyond

If you are feeling more adventurous, City Creek Center and The Gateway Mall offer a wide variety of restaurants as well as a food court. Near Temple Square, restaurants are also located in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building/Lion House Pantry area.

Inside or near the Family History Library

Just need a quick bite to eat between your lab and your research? The FHL has a small vending area on the first floor of the library, which offers a variety of frozen and packaged foods. And of course, JB's Restaurant is on the corner near the library, with affordable full breakfast and lunch buffet options.
