Hilton Salt Lake City Center

The Institute is held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The property features comfortable meeting space, large networking areas, and four-star comfort. They offer spacious lodging rooms with stunning views, a compact refrigerator, work desk, and a safe large enough to fit a laptop. Additional information may be accessed at Hilton.com. SLIG 2020: View your Reservation 

Lodging reservations online are now closed and the deadline to cancel without losing your deposit has passed. 

  • If you need a new reservation, please contact us. We will reach out to the hotel on your behalf to check availability and try to get the group rate for you. No guarantees, but whatever we are given will likely be better than what you will be able to book online or through the 1-800 number. We can also place your name on a waitlist for a group-rate room if one comes open.
  • If you need to cancel an existing reservation, rather than call the hotel, please contact us first to see if we have someone on a waitlist. If we do, we will be able to get your deposit refunded as it will be replaced by another. 
  • For all other changes, please call 1-800-HILTONS.


The Hilton is located at 255 South West Temple, approximately three "Salt Lake City" blocks from the Family History Library. SLIG will be offering complimentary shuttle service to the FHL for labs and after classes (see individual SLIG Event Schedule and Academy Event Schedule). Shuttles do not run in the morning or during lunch; please plan accordingly.

Why Stay at the Conference Hotel

Besides the convenience of being on-site with everything easily accessible, and having all the comforts of home in this plush environment, staying at the host hotel helps keep SLIG registration fees reasonable. We thank you in advance for your support and hope you enjoy your pampered Hilton stay.

Group Rate

Hilton 2-queen bedroomSLIG participants may reserve lodging at the group rate of $144 single, double, triple, or quad, allowing you to choose individual privacy or an economical shared experience. Guests in the block also receive complimentary self-parking in the underground garage (value $18/day) and complimentary wireless internet in the guest room (value $9.95/day). Rates apply to standard King and 2-Queen rooms; premium rooms and suites may be available at varying rates upon request. Participants may piggy-back Hilton Awards nights onto their reservation; see instructions below.

Additional Services

All rooms come with a compact refrigerator. Microwaves are available by request for an additional $10/night; limited quantity available; not guaranteed. Handicapped accessible rooms are available upon request at no additional charge. Please put your requests in your reservation, AND reach out to our hospitality committee at hospitality@slig.ugagenealogy.org to make them aware, as well as add notes to your SLIG or Academy registration under "services".


Our hotel block allows for check-in Tuesday, January 7th and check-out Wednesday, January 29th. Up to three nights prior to or following the block may be reserved upon availability; please enter your request in special comments field when making your reservation.


Group rates will be available as long as rooms remain available in the block or through December 12, 2019, whichever comes first. After that time, prices may vary.

The Reservation Process

Hilton grand ballroom foyerTo ensure the most economical rate possible for our participants, SLIG utilizes a "group rooming list" process, which brings all lodging reservations under our organizational umbrella. While reservation confirmations may reflect the current lodging tax rate, tax will not be applied upon check-out.

Reservations must be made using the Passkey reservation link provided by the hotel for our exclusive use. Reservations made outside this block are not eligible for the SLIG group rate or tax-free status. Your first night lodging deposit will be required at the time of booking and will be paid directly to the hotel through the Passkey system. Changes and cancellations must be made directly through SLIG until after the final cut-off date.

Hilton Honors

Lodging booked through SLIG is eligible to receive Hilton Honors points; please make sure you enter your HH# in your reservation. Please note that because of the group reservation method, your reservation may not immediately show up in your Hilton Honors account.

Participants who wish to reserve part of their stay using their Hilton Honors points may do so by booking those nights directly through Hilton Honors first. It is HIGHLY recommended that the award nights be placed at the END of your SLIG reservation to ensure a smooth transition. The reservation# and arrival date and departure dates for the Hilton awards nights should be placed in special requests section of your SLIG reservation to assist the Hilton team in connecting the two. At the time of check-in, please reconfirm that the two are connected.


Roommate names should be added at the time of your reservation, if known. This will facilitate management both on our end and with the hotel - as it relates to separation of incidentals, issuing keys, etc. Please make sure that these names are current. If at any time you need to cancel and transfer the room to one of your roommates, we will need the permission from both of you. You may update this information by emailing us anytime prior to December 12th. Changes after that time should be directed to the hotel.

One night's deposit ($144) will be required at the time of the reservation. The deposit should be paid directly through Passkey at the time of your reservation by credit card. The balance may be paid to the hotel by credit card upon check-out.

Cancellation / Penalties

Refund of the first night's deposit ($144) will be provided if cancellation is received by December 12, 2019. Cancellation after that date or failure to check-in will result in forfeiture of the deposit as well as the room. 

A change of departure/check-out date made after check-in will result in a fee of $65 assessed by the hotel. Please make sure you review your reservation carefully and make any adjustments prior to that time.

Please note that cancellation of a reservation results in cancellation for all parties involved. Therefore, if you are sharing the room, and the other parties still need the room, please contact us to transfer the reservation rather than cancel the room.
