Greg Nelson

At FamilySearch, Greg leads efforts to explore and develop AI-generated family trees in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. He is passionate about investigating record sets and ensuring the availability of high-quality indexes to support the accurate connection of families through technology. He also has a strong interest in records related to the transition from the Russian Empire to the Soviet Union, including repression files, remembrance books, filtration records, and gulag documentation. His research extends to the Holodomor and its devastating effects across Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.

Outside of work, Greg enjoys powerlifting, studying folklore and Soviet history, and spending time with his grandchildren—especially when it involves a bit of chaos. He resides in Stansbury Park, Utah with his wife and children.
