Introduction

Scott Andrew “Drew” Bartley is a genealogist, archivist, librarian, and editor specializing in Vermont, Mayflower lineages, and colonial New England. He formerly served as the manuscripts curator at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, librarian/archivist for the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, and editor of their journal, Mayflower Descendant.

Drew has also been a Wiki Content Specialist for FamilySearch.org, where he created research guides on Massachusetts, its counties, and Boston. He edited The Descendants of Elder William Brewster, Part 1 (2014), the final volume in the “silver” book series documenting the descendants of Mayflower passengers, and served as the fact-checker for the PBS show Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr. Drew is currently the genealogist for the Early Vermont Settlers to 1784 Study Project at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, which has produced two published volumes and more than 725 online sketches. He is the editor of Vermont Genealogy, consulting editor for both The New England Historical and Genealogical Register and the Mayflower Descendant, and is slowly compiling a genealogy of the descendants of George Lamphere of Westerly, Rhode Island, with several related articles already published.
