Sharon DeBartolo Carmack, MFA, CG® (Retired 2024), is the best-selling author of twenty-eight books, including the newly revised and expanded Discovering Your Female Ancestors; Madame Restell: The True Story of New York City’s Most Notorious Abortionist, Her Early Life, Family, and Murder; and In Search of Maria B. Hayden: The American Medium Who Brought Spiritualism to the U.K. She serves on the English adjunct faculty at Southern New Hampshire University, teaches writing courses for Writer’s Digest University, and is a member of the genealogy faculty at Salt Lake Community College.
